Hey,
I painted a pair of Jordan's and a pair of Huaraches. I merely used angelus leather paint and the finisher. The paint chipped off on the side of the sole & mid sole. What paint should I be using or what can I exercise different? I have googled this but can't find an answer and the tutorials I watched seemed to exist doing same as me... Any assistance much appreciated!

From what i've seen information technology depends on the type of midsole that'south on the shoe. Based on my experiences cream based midsole'south will adhere improve to paint than phylon based midsoles. I did a black and gilt custom on a pair of all white huraches. I painted the midsole black and after a couple wears the paint nevertheless holds up.

The Merely paint that works on midsoles are RALEIGH RESTORATIONS "Scratch Resistant Sealer", notation*** this is simply for use on midsoles of safety or other parts of the shoe that are prophylactic i.e heel guard, lace-strap,etc. Very piece of cake to apply, virtually xv layers of paint and then sealer and IF EXECUTED PERFECTLY yous can even attempt to scratch the paint of with something abrupt like a pocketknife.

Every bit for the SOLES of shoes, virtually paint will come up off due to Chafe of contacting the ground. The production from ANGELUS 'WALK ON Scarlet/ or BLACK" is designed specifically for high heel soles only can also exist used for sneakers. Another culling is to purchase "sole protectors" and put them on after you have painted the soles.

Hope this helps

Yeah I employ Rally Restorations Scratch Sealer, I used it exactly how he tells you to do it in the one video on YouTube and pigment still cracked and I'm not talking about pigment cracking after a lilliputian while I'k talking as in I put the sneakers on and they lasted half a day of normal walking. Think I had put 8 coats on...

Aye I utilise Rally Restorations Scratch Sealer, I used information technology exactly how he tells y'all to do it in the one video on YouTube and paint still croaky and I'1000 not talking about paint not bad later a little while I'k talking as in I put the sneakers on and they lasted one-half a day of normal walking. Recall I had put viii coats on...

it could be the adhesion or how the paint is sticking to the midsole, are you using whatever adhesion promotor?

That's exactly what it was the adhesion, so I have since corrected the issue somewhat and seems like durability is pretty good now...I'm using a medium to soften up the paint a scrap and seems to be much better only now I have to "estrus set" the paint and that tin can be tricky at times for me. Every bit for promoter I do take Bulldog adhesion promoter and tried it once without much luck merely not certain if I did it correct or not 🤷🏻‍♂️. Thoughts?

but to ostend, you ARE cleaning the shoe with acetone offset??to remove dirt and make the bulldog adhesive stick

When you are painting the layers MAKE Sure they are thin , thick coats causes peachy so heat set in betwixt layers of sealer/pigment.

information technology could also be that your midsoles are crumbling/getting erstwhile

Aye I actually have a really decent setup with Deglazer and everything. Likewise I sand the midsoles before painting to help with adhesion...does anyone else sand?

just to confirm, yous ARE cleaning the shoe with acetone first??to remove clay and make the bulldog adhesive stick

When you are painting the layers Make Certain they are thin , thick coats causes bang-up then estrus prepare in between layers of sealer/paint.

it could also exist that your midsoles are aging/getting former

Quick question, with bulldog promoter how long practice I wait to pigment later on I spray the promoter on? As for my midsoles being too old peradventure I doubt it'southward that as most of the maxes I work on are anywhere from 2008 - 2019.
